About Family Weekend

The University of North Texas invites you, your family, and your friends to participate in Family Weekend 2009. Whether you live near or far, we want you to join your UNT family for a weekend of fun! This three-day event will be packed with numerous activities, meals, and the opportunity to cheer on the Mean Green football team as they take on Middle Tennessee. This year, Family Weekend will be held Friday, September 25-27.

Some of the 2009 activities include:

The President’s Breakfast
Hosted by UNT President Gretchen M. Bataille, this traditional event allows UNT family and friends to meet and learn more about UNT’s plans for the future.

5K Fun Run/1 Mile Walk
On Saturday, runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels enjoy a course that runs through our beautiful campus. Proceeds from the Fun Run/Walk benefit UNT Scholarships.

Tailgating
One of the most popular family weekend activities, tailgating, includes a cookout and carnival with something for everyone in the family. During this time, family and friends can also watch the UNT Green Brigade perform their pre-game show.

Football
Participants can cheer on the Mean Green football team as they take on Middle Tennessee on Saturday night! Football tickets are complimentary for all participants.

Food
Family and friends are welcome to attend Scrappy’s Extravaganza, an evening of food and fun on Friday night, our 13th annual chili cook-off on Saturday, and of course, great food during tailgating activities!

Little Sibs Activities
Siblings of all ages will participate in a variety of Residence Hall sponsored activities throughout the weekend!
